I much prefer Jacques Vallee's view that the ufo _total_ phenomenon represents a nonhuman intelligence closely related to earth which has inter-acted with humanity for thousands of years. The nature of this intelligence is unknown. By its behavior it can be judged evil, jocular, beautiful, ugly, helpful, hindering. We won't know until, as Vallee wants to do, we can take our eyes off the screen and pry the lock on "the secret projectionist's booth". Jacobs could be right but I doubt it.
