No Outside

“It is best to try to avoid thinking of the Big Bang as an explosion, even though it is usually described that way. The problem with the word explosion is this: it conjures an image in the mind’s eye that the Big Bang should be imagined from the outside, with the universe going “boom” and expanding “into” something. But it was not an explosion into space rather, it was a simultaneous creation and expansion of space. We live in a universe where everything we can measure, observe or perhaps ever know is inside. There is no perceivable outside.” [1]
