Holy Canoley!

OK, I’ll admit it, I was ego-surfing, but this really does blow my mind - I’m honestly mystified when I imagine that this site might figure in anyone’s dreams or spiritual life, let alone in such a dramatic way:

http://themirror.livejournal.com/172175.html

I had what might be the most insane dream I have ever had in my life last night.

the content of the dream wasn’t itself that remarkable. I was flying around with some people in tucson, one of the more common locales of recent dreams of mine, and everything was suddenly riven with a flash of light. the entire universe went completely white, and time stopped for a moment, and we felt as if everything was suddenly stripped to its core. and then the light faded and everything returned to motion.

following this, my friends and I concluded that we had perceived the essential truth of the doctrines of gnosticism, and recounted more or less word for word everything on this website. in other words, we took it on ourselves to become missionaries of gnosticism and proselytize to the other inhabitants of the dream world.

that’s all just the kind of stuff that happpens in my dreams all the time. that’s not the fucked up part. the fucked up parts are:

a) the intensity of the whole “flash of light” experience. I can still feel it, much the same as you still feel shaken after a bad fright.

b) the intensity and content of the dream following the flash of light. my friends and I immediately began a dialog about whether or not what was happening was a dream, and went through the process of the various “checks” that you’re taught to do throughout the day to traain yourself to have a lucid dream: look at an object, look away, and then look back and see if it’s the same; pick up an object and see if it feels real; look at the palms of your hands, etc. and the dream passed all of the tests. in fact, the kinesthetic acuteness of my perceptions and the apparent solidity of the world were so strong that we decided we had no choice but to conclude that these things were actually happening. so not only was it the most sensorially intense dream I have ever had, there was complete self-consciousness within the dream. we ultimately concluded that we had initially been dreaming, and that after the flash of light we had passed out of the dream and into another realm of existence. after a little while, however, things became less distinct and more abstract, and we concluded that we had passed back into the ordinary dream world.

of course I don’t give anyy credence to the logic of the characters who populate my dreams, and don’t think that I actually travelled to another dimension in the dream last night, just that I had a very strange dream unlike any other dream I can remember. one could also hypothesize that I had some sort of kundalini awakening experience while I was asleep.

I did, however, think of a formulation of something this morning:

ecstasy is the experience of existing without an anchor or reference to external reality.

Actually, the image you did from the Gospel of Thomas, about the lion and man eating each other, has pretty much been something of a recurring symptom, probably once a month at least, for me since that one night back in 1999 when I was 17 or 18 and trying to stay out of trouble by browsing the internet as opposed to going out and vandalizing shit for hours (my hobby and social outlet at the time). I stumbled onto it after reading some of Infek bin Laden’s stuff, I think, and was in a state of “imprint vulnerability.”

See, Rev, you do matter! Keep up the Great Work, there are minds to turn against Yaldaboath!
